While some folks refer to all country partner dancing as "two step" or "Texas Two Step", there are two significantly different styles of country partner dancing - Country Swing and Two Step. Each requires different amounts of space and levels of skill.
Country Swing is one of the most fun and approachable partner dances you’ll ever learn. It requires a small amount of space so it's great for dancing in your kitchen, at small bars and restaurants, and at weddings. Country Swing is essentially the fun parts of the other partner dances with an easy basic step to connect them. You don't need rhythm which makes it great for beginner dancers and it can be performed to ANY genre of music, not just country.
Two Step is a classic and generally requires a decent amount of space. The dance travels around the outside of the floor like a race track or skating rink. You CAN two step in a small area but it doesn't look as cool and isn't nearly as much fun since it's designed to be done progressing around the floor. Two Step also requires rhythm, the ability to simultaneously hear music and move your body, and a higher degree of skill than Country Swing. It also requires a specific beat and speed of music which isn't found in much of today's music. If you definitely want to learn two step, we can get you out on the dance floor tonight!

Turn Their Heads founder Rick Harris was the first to teach Country Swing in Nashville 15+ years ago to one person at a time. If you’ve taken ballroom lessons you’ll know that instructors can suck the fun out of the lesson by focusing on making everything perfect. Turn Their Heads isn’t like that at all.
